Prologue:

“Hey, where are you going?!” Julie whispered as she saw the silhouette of her twin brother in the window. It was too dark to make out any facial features, but she knew her brother well enough that he had a ‘caught red-handed’ expression on his face. He could tell all the lies to everybody else without moving a muscle, but he couldn’t tell her a simple untruth without blushing.
“Visit a girl I know.” Julian whispered back and swung his long legs through the open window. “Don’t tell mum and dad, please.”
Julie shook her head in disbelief. When had she ever ratted on her brother? “Just be careful.”
“You too.”
“What, of the bedbugs?” Julie teased and then waved her hands. “Okay, Romeo, go play Don Juan or whatever you do.”
She couldn’t see it but she was sure her brother pointed his tongue at her.
“Ha. Ha!” He said and disappeared from the windowsill. She crossed the corridor to her room and before she closed her door she heard the muffled noise of her brother land in the garden and hurry away.
